Couldn't move to shared drive

This error message appears when Google Drive is unable to transfer specific files to the shared drive. This can be fixed by transferring small chunks of data at a time and identifying the problematic file(s).

StepWhat to do
1If you are trying to transfer a folder, open the folder.
2Transfer a folder (or a small set of files, if there is no folder) within the main folder you are trying to transfer. If the transfer succeeds, transfer another folder or set of files. Continue this process until the error message appears again.
3When the error message appears again, open the folder and repeat the process in step 2. If the error message appears when transferring a file, skip transferring that file and continue the process until all other files are transferred. We recommend downloading the file instead of directly transferring it.

Can't move to a shared drive

This error message appears when the files that you're trying to transfer contains files owned by external organizations. Google Drive automatically creates shortcuts to these files when transferring, but there is a limit to the number of external files that can be transferred at once.

This can be fixed by transferring small chunks of data at a time.

StepWhat to do
1If you are trying to transfer a folder, open the folder.
2Transfer a folder (or a small set of files, if there is no folder) within the main folder you are trying to transfer. If the transfer succeeds, transfer another folder or set of files. Continue this process until all desired files are transferred.
