Introduction

Column

This page lists the steps to upgrade your computer's macOS. It will take 45-60 minutes to complete, during which time you will be unable to use the computer.

Note:

  • If you encounter an error that says the upgrade is not allowed by IT, please contact the IT Helpdesk at it.helpdesk@biola.edu or or 562.903.4740 and we can manually update our system to allow your computer to upgrade.

1Click the Apple icon at the top-left of your computer.

2Click System Preferences... from the drop-down menu.
3Click Software Update.

Click Upgrade Now.

Note: The macOS may begin to download (if it hasn't already). If so, we recommend connecting your computer to a wired network connection to shorten the time it takes to download the macOS.

5Click Continue.

6Click Agree on any pop-up windows.

The computer will automatically upgrade the macOS.

Note:

  • The computer will restart during the installation process.
  • The macOS upgrade can take between 45-60 minutes.
